This humidifier comes as one piece, but it breaks down into four main parts. The larger outer piece is the top cover, which is what you see in the product photos, and it sits over the water tank inside. You need to make sure you support the bottom when moving the unit because the tank is not snapped to the cover. Nothing actually locks the top cover and tank together.
Inside the cover is the bottom tank, which is made of two pieces, and the blue filter sits in the middle. The filter needs to be cleaned every 2 to 4 weeks using the self-cleaning mode. The filter only lasts around 3 to 6 months, with replacement every 3 months being most ideal. The filter is double-wall lined on the inside and outside.
The instructions are thorough and very helpful, with clear demonstration illustrations. You can connect the unit to a phone app through Wi-Fi and control it from your phone, since there is no remote included.
You can fill the tank from the outside while the cover is still on. You would only need to take the unit apart initially to access the room-temperature sensor inside. The tank holds up to 1.8 gallons of water. Purified water is recommended instead of tap water. There is a water-level indicator on the screen, so you can see how much water is left without having to access the water tank at the bottom. It is not recommended to use essential oils in this humidifier.
The room-temperature sensor is a separate device that connects with the humidifier by Bluetooth. The unit responds to that reading, so it is best to keep the temperature sensor in the same room as the humidifier. It uses three AAA batteries, which are included.
The cord is USB-C. The unit is about 18½ inches tall and 9½ inches wide. It is medium weight and does not feel like cheap lightweight plastic. It can cover up to around 700 square feet.
Overall, this is a major upgrade from using an oil diffuser that claims it can double as a humidifier. Although you can’t use essential pils with this device you won’t get that wet mist since this machine does not produce one. Because there is no mist, I can run my air purifier at the same time. It adds moisture without making your room feel damp or leaving water residue around your space.
The machine is not completely silent, but the noise level is similar to my Alen air purifier on low. If you live in an apartment or use central air, which can be extremely drying, this is a must. I do not wake up with a sore throat like I did with smaller devices that released too much wetness on my nightstand and made me sick in the winter.
